Trout and Berry Days in Paradise

Well another year and another Trout and Berry Days in Paradise...Fred once again entered the pie eating contest and came up short. Last year he came in 2nd and this year he was on world record pace (that is what he said) but dropped his second pie when he had 1/2 of it completed. He ate his third pie and had to just sit and wait until someone else finished. A very dissapointing finish for him this year...but there is always next year....

Princess Graduates From Puppy School!!

Princess has graduated from puppy school and she is now 19weeks old and around 60 pounds. She has learned the sit, stay, lay down, heal and play dead, but still is a big puppy and doesn't always come when called. She will miss her friends in school, "Boo"- a daushound, "Copper"- the Visla, "Izzy"- the Boxer' and her favorite of all "Gnut"- a Silky Terrior.

Happy 4th of July

We hope everyone has a safe and fun 4th of July. Fred and I are going to Logan to see the classic cars at the Cache Valley Cruise In, and then see the Rock Band Styx perform at the venue. Last night we set some fireworks off in the front yard, it was a beautiful cool night to just do that.

The New Guard Dog Arrives

Well the alpacas are in safe hands now, our new guard dog "Princess" the Great Pyrenees arrived in May. She was a wee pup of 8 weeks and only 23 pounds when we brought her home. As of today she is a 13 week/40 pound pup. She started puppy obedience school this week and we are hoping for her to achieve greatness. She is growing like a weed and we will keep you posted on how big she is getting.

Welcome to Paradise

Our Alpaca ranch is nestled at the foothills of the Rockies, in a small town called Paradise, in the North East corner of Utah (yes, it truly is Paradise!). We are located only 8 miles South of Logan and enjoy the beauty of the Wasatch and Wellsville mountains that surround us. We fell in love with alpacas in 2003 and bought our first maiden in January of 2004 and waited patiently for her to be old enough to breed. The day finally came, and after may tries she tested positive for her pregnancy. We anxiously waited a full year for our first cria (baby alpaca) to come, when sadly she had a dystocia and our first cria died. But since that day we bought 2 more females, and with a little luck on our side our 3 breeding moms gave us 3 beautiful female crias in 2006 and 2 more in 2007. So ahead we forge in the wonderful world of alpacas. We look forward to all of the fun and excitement and yes even times of disappointment that comes along with owning these wonderful animals. We moved to Northern Utah in 2007 and have loved it ever sense. We love it here in Paradise and enjoy our evenings sitting on our front porch, or sitting in the back pasture watching the alpacas graze and just soaking in the views.
